Reflexology is a method of activating
the healing powers of the body. Working on the feet is an ancient
practice as recorded by the early Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Russians
and Egyptians. Many of these same techniques have been developed into
a modern scientific method called Reflexology. This deals with the
principle that there are reflex areas in the feet that correspond
to all the glands, organs and parts of the body. Manipulation of the
feet , where there are over 7000 nerve endings, stimulates the affected
areas and helps bring an equilibrium to the body. Reflexology is an
excellent whole body therapy and can be used to prevent illness and
to encourage the body to heal.

How does Reflexology Work?
|
| |
| Therapies including Reflexology,
Acupuncture and Shiatsu work on the principle that energy flows in
zones or meridians throughout the body. In Reflexology there are ten
energy zones that travel the length of the body. Five are located
on each foot. Each zone is considered a channel for energy or chi.
When the therapist works these zones by applying pressure with their
thumb, it will affect the entire body lying along this zone. As the
energy pathways are opened up, the body is normalized as the seven
energy centres, known as chakras, are unblocked. Energy flows and
the body, mind and spirit are brought back into balance. |
